Water Activities to Beat
The hottest days of the year are approaching! We have you covered if you are looking for some cheap activities to beat the dog days of summer. Most of these activities are also family-friendly.
1. The Passage—This is a staircase behind the Tennessee Aquarium leading down to the Riverwalk. It’s a great place to cool your feet There is a Trail of Tears memorial with plaques and artwork to view as you descend. This is family-friendly and there are plenty of activities and scenery nearby, including a playground by the riverboat dock.
2. The Fountain at Coolidge Park—This local favorite is a freebie in North Chattanooga if you don’t mind getting soaked. This interactive play fountain has water that shoots up from the ground, often catching unsuspecting park-goers off guard. It’s great for kids, and there are tons of other activities located in the most walkable area of the city.
3. Paddleboard and kayak rentals—L2 outside is a good choice if you are in the downtown area. River Canyon Adventures has located off Suck Creek Road in a less crowded area. Both have hourly and overnight rentals. River Drifters on Suck Creek Road also has kayak rentals and a quick and yummy meal.
4. Soakya Waterpark—This five-acre waterpark is an extension of Lake Winnie. It’s great for kids and parents with a lazy river ride, slides, and an interactive kids' area. There is also an activity pool for small children.
